Ms Lynne Urquhart
Ms Lynne Urquhart has been at the Council since 1990, and has had a number of roles in its medical regulatory work. Since July 1997 she has been leading the Council’s Health Team, which carries out the work of its Health Committee.
If a doctor has an issue with their own health, wherever possible we try to help them to remain in practice while it is being resolved. That said, our primary objective is to protect the health and safety of the public – which may mean that the doctor will be unable to practise safely, or will be limited in what they can do, until they are well enough to fully resume practice.
The key roles of the health team are receiving statutory notifications, and disclosures on practising certificates and registration applications to:
- evaluate the nature of an individual doctor’s health problem(s) and the extent, if any, to which it is impacting on their practice
- determine if intervention is necessary to safeguard patients
- where needed to support doctors to get treatment started
- obtaining advice from the doctors treatment providers or arranging assessments with suitably qualified experts.
Lynne is a member of the Executive Leadership Team overseeing the day-to-day work of the Council’s office.More information soon
